Mimix
Broadband, Inc. Introduces 2 to 18 GHz Low Noise Gain Block Amplifier
Low Noise Amplifier Offers Unique Combination of Low Noise Figure
and Broadband Output Match
September 2, 2005, Houston, Texas - Mimix Broadband, Inc.
introduces today a Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) two stage low noise gain
block amplifier that has a self-biased, single supply design. Using
0.25 um optical etch-stop pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor
(pHEMT) device model technology, this low noise gain block, identified
as CMM1100, covers the 2 to 18 frequency bands. The CMM1100 provides
3.5 dB noise figure and 18 dB gain, delivering 16 dBm P1dB.
This low noise gain block amplifier offers a unique combination
of low noise figure and broadband output match by employing a unique
feedback stage to provide good noise figure that does not exist
in typical distributed low noise designs. Integrated bias coils
and on-chip DC blocking are all inclusive in the compact chip measuring
only 1.550 x 1.600 x 0.100 mm.
"The use of a broadband feedback topology satisfies the need
for low noise figure across the entire 2-18 GHz bandwidth,"
stated Damian McCann, Vice President, Product Development of Mimix
Broadband, Inc. "Combined with a distributed output distributed
stage, it achieves high gain, high P1dB, and unconditional stability
in an industry leading die area. This compact, broadband chip offers
an easy-to-assemble solution for manufacturers of products and systems
for defense EW/ECM, test equipment, microwave radio and VSAT."
Engineering samples are available today from stock. Technical
support is also available from Mimix's applications engineers at
281.988.4600. The CMM1100 datasheet and additional product information
can be obtained from the Mimix Broadband website at www.mimixbroadband.com.
