Damian McCann Promoted to CTO, John McCarthy Appointed Senior Vice
President Sales and Don Mathes Named Vice President Operations
May 2, 2006, Houston, Texas - Mimix Broadband, Inc., a supplier of
microwave and millimeter-wave Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) semiconductors,
announced today that it expanded its management team at the positions of
Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Senior Vice President Sales and Vice
President Operations.
Damian McCann was promoted from Vice President Product Development to
the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Mr. McCann has more than
20 years of experience in microwave and millimeter-wave component
development, device modeling and design. Before joining Mimix, Mr.
McCann was Vice President of Advanced Marketing and Technology for
Celeritek, Inc., where he led strategic planning efforts, identified
target market opportunities and, as leading technologist, worked closely
with engineering teams. During his tenure at Celeritek, Mr. McCann
successfully secured key orders, grew the company's customer base by
1100%, and captured 14% of the relevant market share. Prior to
Celeritek, Mr. McCann advanced to Principal Engineer at GEC Plessey /
Marconi Electronic Products, England. Mr. McCann holds a Certificate
Degree in Marketing from UCSC, Santa Clara, and graduated from Queens
University of Belfast, N. Ireland with a B.Sc. (Honors) in Electrical
and Electronic Engineering.
Dr. Jim Harvey continues to play an instrumental role at Mimix as CTO
Emeritus.
John McCarthy joins Mimix as Senior Vice President Sales, with extensive
experience in semiconductor markets worldwide, and a background that
includes analog, RF, wireless and custom/ASIC. Mr. McCarthy comes to
Mimix from Peregrine Semiconductor, a company he made a qualified
supplier to Motorola, Scientific Atlanta, Qualcomm, HP and others.
Additionally, he led Peregrine to a Tier 1 supplier status with
Richardson Electronics. Mr. McCarthy previously held leadership roles at
IBM and Harris, and has a BSEE from the University of Nebraska.
Donald P. Mathes, Vice President Operations, has over 30 years of
experience managing a broad range of semiconductor and high-tech
manufacturing operations in the U.S. and worldwide. From 2000 to 2003,
Mr. Mathes designed, built and ramped to production a world class
semiconductor-manufacturing facility for a start-up wafer foundry in
Taiwan. Today, the company is the first pure-play 6-inch GaAs wafer
foundry in the world. Mr. Mathes' background spans everything from
proposal preparation to contract administration, procurement to master
scheduling, and resource budgeting to facilities expansion. He holds an
MBA and a BS, Business Management from California Polytechnic
University, Pomona.
