Mimix Broadband, Inc. Introduces Two
Stage GaAs MMIC Doubler That Can Be Used to Drive Fundamental
Mixer Devices
Doubler Suitable for Driving Mimix's XR1002 Receiver
February
16, 2005, Houston, Texas - Mimix Broadband, Inc.
announced today the introduction of a Gallium Arsenide
(GaAs) monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC)
two stage doubler that can be used to drive fundamental
mixer devices. Using 0.15 micron gate length GaAs pseudomorphic
high electron mobility transistor (pHEMT) device model
technology, this doubler converts input signals in the
10 to 13 GHz frequency range to output signals in the
20 to 26 GHz frequency range, and has +15 dBm output
power level.
The doubler, identified as 12DBL0409, is ideal to drive
Mimix's XR1002 receiver, and is suitable for wireless
communications applications such as millimeter-wave
point-to-point radio, local multipoint distribution
services (LMDS), and SATCOM applications.
"This compact device provides 6 to 9 dB gain with
good suppression of the fundamental input signal,"
stated Dr. Jim Harvey, CTO of Mimix Broadband, Inc.
"It provides more than 15 dBm output power, making
it appropriate as a power amplifier driver in a transmitter,
or as an LO driver in up-convert or down-convert radios."
Mimix performs 100% on-wafer RF, DC and output power
testing on the 12DBL0409, as well as 100% visual inspection
to MIL-STD-883 method 2010. The chip also has surface
passivation to protect and provide a rugged part with
backside via holes and gold metallization to allow either
a conductive epoxy or eutectic solder die attach process.
Engineering samples are available today from stock,
along with production quantities. Technical support
is also available from Mimix's applications engineers
at 281.988.4600. The 12DBL0409 datasheet and additional
product information can be obtained from the Mimix Broadband
website at www.mimixbroadband.com.
