Mimix Broadband, Inc. Introduces 17 to 35 GHz GaAs MMIC Low
Noise Amplifier with Self Biased Architecture
Balanced Design Results in Excellent Input and Output Match
January
17, 2005, Houston, Texas - Mimix Broadband, Inc. introduces
today a Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) monolithic microwave integrated
circuit (MMIC) two stage low noise amplifier that covers the 17
to 35 GHz frequency bands. The low noise amplifier, identified as
XL1001, has a small signal gain of 14 dB with a noise figure of
2.5 dB across the band. The XL1001 includes simple, single supply
bias with no need for negative voltages or active bias circuits
and offers excellent input and output match due to its balanced
design. It is well suited for wireless communications applications
such as millimeter-wave point-to-point radio, local multipoint distribution
services (LMDS) and SATCOM.
"The broadband performance of this device, combined with the
self biased balanced architecture, makes this a very easy to use
circuit with many applications in millimeter radio applications,"
stated Dr. Jim Harvey, CTO of Mimix Broadband, Inc. "For applications
requiring higher gain, a three stage companion part, the XL1002,
is also available." Mimix performs 100% on-wafer RF, DC and
noise figure testing on the XL1001, as well as 100% visual inspection
to MIL-STD-883 method 2010. The chip also has surface passivation
to protect and provide a rugged part with backside via holes and
gold metallization to allow either a conductive epoxy or eutectic
solder die attach process.
Engineering samples are available today from stock, along with
production quantities. Technical support is also available from
Mimix's applications engineers at 281.988.4600. The XL1001 datasheet
and additional product information can be obtained from the Mimix
Broadband website at www.mimixbroadband.com.
