Mimix Broadband Acquires Tadiran Microwave Network’s Australian Subsidiary
for Advanced Design and Engineering Capabilities
Australian Subsidiary Provides Integral MMIC Design Expertise
December 22, 2000, Houston, Texas Mimix Broadband,
formerly Shason Microwave Corporation, announced today that it acquired
Tadiran Microwave Network’s Australian Design subsidiary at an undisclosed
amount. This acquisition significantly expands Mimix Broadband’s capabilities
to design and develop Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) monolithic microwave integrated
circuits (MMICs) and modules for broadband wireless access applications
that meet customer requirements.
Started in 1993, this subsidiary has primarily been involved in MMIC
design and chipset development from 18 to 40 GHz. Furthermore, this Australian
Design subsidiary has already established a strategic working relationship
with Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO),
an Australian government owned facility that supports a high level of research
and development for commercial applications that meets their needs. CSIRO
has more than 10 years experience designing GaAs MMICs from 10 to 200 GHz.
These two teams provide good insight into complete radio systems issues,
which has resulted in advanced design and high performance products.
"The Australian Design subsidiary will enable Mimix Broadband to
expeditiously enter the marketplace and meet critical time-to-market demands,"
stated Rick Montgomery, President of Mimix Broadband. "Most importantly,
we believe that the combination of our subsidiary’s design expertise along
with its relationship with CSIRO gives Mimix a comprehensive understanding
of not only detailed design of support circuits but overall radio system
design to assist customers throughout their entire product development
cycle."
Dr. Jim Harvey, Chief Technology Officer and Director of the Australian
Design subsidiary, said, "We are extremely excited about joining the
Mimix Broadband team. We feel that our experience adds integral MMIC design
and chipset development expertise to the Mimix team."
