Shason Microwave Corporation to Change Name to ‘Mimix Broadband’
New Name and Organization Reinforces Company’s Strategic Business Initiative
December 15, 2000, Houston, Texas Shason Microwave
Corporation announced today that it has changed its name to Mimix
Broadband. The corporate name and organizational change reflects Mimix
Broadband’s new business initiative to supply Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) monolithic
microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) and modules to broadband wireless
access manufacturers.
Under the new corporate organization, William F. (Rick) Montgomery was
named President and CEO in February 2000 and initiated the development
of a strategy to capitalize on the rapidly growing broadband wireless access
market. As a result, Mimix concentrates its efforts on combining its extensive
radio expertise to launch MMIC and module products to manufacturers serving
this market. Shason Microwave Corporation has designed, manufactured and
sold variable gain amplifier modules, multifunction microwave modules,
and power amplifier kits to large commercial and military organizations.
"We have been working with industry leaders to define and develop
what we know as products in great demand today," said Mr. Montgomery.
"In building radio modules and systems over the past decade, Mimix
has gained extensive knowledge of how to use, apply, test and package MMIC
devices. We believe we can capitalize on this expertise by supplying products
that meet the market’s requirements."
Mr. Montgomery is considered a leading executive in the microwave radio
industry and was a co-founder of Microwave Networks Incorporated (MNI).
MNI was a supplier of broadband point-to-point microwave radios that was
founded in 1982 and merged into California Microwave in 1995. In addition
to founding a successful company, Mr. Montgomery has 25 years of experience
in high technology companies in the areas of general management, international
sales, research and development and strategic product marketing.
