POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Engineering Technician
JOB SUMMARY: Participate in the qualification, testing, and troubleshooting of the company's MMICs and MMIC-based modules.
REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering
FLSA: Non-Exempt
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Qualify the performance of MMIC-based modules developed in the Engineering Group. Qualification involves extensive and precise testing, over temperature. Troubleshooting under-performing modules will be an integral part of this job function.
- Accurately record, document, and file, test results for internal and customer use.
- When required, manually qualify/test individual MMIC products using the manual probing station.
- Troubleshoot and test small production runs of MMIC-based modules.
- Interface with the Operations group when releasing new products to production. This may include, training, assisting with test procedures, interface with purchasing and assisting in any process or quality issues. May be called upon to work in Manufacturing to improve yields.
- Maintain the Engineering lab, including equipment calibration, consumable purchases and repairs, and general lab tidiness.
- Create fixtures etc if needed to support MMIC/Module testing.
- Assist in the generation of qualification/test procedures for MMIC-based modules.
- Provide test equipment support and guidance to other Engineering personnel.
- Provide weekly progress reports to the Director of Engineering or assigned Engineer
- Perform other related duties as directed.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Associates Degree, ITT certification, or equivalent experience in the Microwave Field.
Experience: Minimum five (5) year's experience, in the field of testing or qualifying microwave or millimeter-wave devices, modules or systems. Microwave oscillator testing and troubleshooting experience a plus.
Skills: Able to use an extensive range of microwave and millimeter wave test equipment, including VNA, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, Power Meter, Noise Figure Meter. Able to produce comprehensive test documentation using Excel and Word.
Physical: Good health. Able to carry out job functions as described above. Able to work at a electronic workstation or computer for extended periods of time. Able to lift a minimum of 30lbs.
